Great article and follow up from my post yesterday…Linking Proficiency to Purpose. I particularly like Mr. Goldsmith’s statement.. “As (adult) learners, we need the “why” as much as the “how.” When you are designing for an adult audience, regardless of online, mobile, gamification, social….you need to connect your learner to their why.

And we also do need to remember that it has to be more than because I said so (like your mother said to you…or you say to your children). It has to be a substantial why. It must be linked to a concrete purpose — either personally for the learner — or tied to business results.
